He was born in Istanbul in 1961. He was taught by the best masters of woodcraft. Struggling fdr the survival of Traditinational Turkish Woodcraft in academic level, Erakalın has started his stuedies at the Education Faculty of Anadolu University, Eskişehir in 1989, he is supported through Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen and his never ending sensitivity towards arts. At present he is carrying on his studies at the same university. He says that he is feeling the honours and struggling for the survival of this art in Turkey.
